PM Modi offers prayers at Maya Devi temple in Lumbini – Times of India

Lumbini (Nepal): Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited on monday Maya Devi Temple In Lumbini, Nepal, shortly after landing in the Himalayan nation.

PM Modi in his departure statement had said, “I am honored to have followed in the footsteps of lakhs of Indians to pay obeisance at the holy site of the birth of Lord Buddha.”
Apart from visiting the holy Maya Devi temple, the Prime Minister will also participate in the “stone laying ceremony” of the India International Center for Buddhist Culture and Heritage in the Lumbini Math area.
He will also attend a function organized on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti organized by the Government of Nepal.
On Sunday, the prime minister had described ties with Nepal as “unique”.
“The civilizational and people-to-people contacts between India and Nepal are an enduring building block of our close ties. The purpose of my visit is to celebrate and deepen these time-honored ties that have been cherished for centuries and recorded in our long history. mutual,” he said.
During PM Modi’s short visit, five Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) are expected to be signed between India and Nepal to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
