Continuing his annual tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kargil on 24 October.

The PMO said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Kargil, where he will celebrate Diwali with our brave soldiers.

Since coming to power in 2014, PM Modi has been visiting various military facilities to celebrate Diwali. Last year, PM Modi celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Nowshera, Jammu. He commended the soldiers for serving on the Indian borders and pointed out that the security personnel were Safety armor (armour) of the nation.

In 2020, while celebrating Diwali with soldiers at Longewala in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, PM Modi had said that as long as Indian soldiers are present, this country’s Diwali festival will be in full swing and bright.

In 2019, he celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Rajouri district along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. He had exchanged Diwali greetings with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel at Pathankot Air Force Station.

In 2018, PM Modi celebrated Diwali with personnel of the Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Harsil, Uttarakhand. After this he worshiped in Kedarnath Dham.

In 2017, he celebrated the festival with Army personnel and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Gurez Valley of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2016, the PM had gone to Himachal Pradesh to celebrate the festival with ITBP personnel at a checkpoint. He had visited the Punjab border in 2015 to celebrate Diwali with soldiers. In 2014, PM Modi spent Diwali with soldiers in Siachen.
