PM Modi to flag off 4th Vande Bharat train today, inaugurate development projects in Himachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi The country’s fourth Vande Bharat Express train is all set to flag off at Una in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. He will also launch several development projects in the northern state.

As per PM’s itinerary, the inauguration of the new Vande Bharat Express from Amb Andaura to New Delhi will be flagged off at Una. After this the PM will dedicate it to the Indian Institute of Information technology (IIIT) to the nation, and laid the foundation stone of a Bulk Drug Park.

He will lay the foundation stone of two hydroelectric projects in Chamba district and launch the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III in Himachal Pradesh. The Prime Minister will also address two public meetings at Una and Chamba in the electoral state. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that this would be Modi’s ninth visit to the state in the last five years.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, PM Modi said, “I will be among the people of Himachal Pradesh tomorrow, October 13. Looking forward to the programs in Una and Chamba where several development works will be inaugurated which are aimed at further increasing the pace of progress in the state.”

“You will be happy to know that Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off. IIIT, Una will also be dedicated to the nation. Foundation stone of Bulk Drug Park will be laid. These works will give wings to the aspirations of the people.”

“Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III will be launched in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. This will strengthen the road network across the state. With this, tourism and economic activities will also pick up pace. The foundation stone of two hydroelectric projects will also be laid.

According to officials, the fourth Vande Bharat train is an improved version compared to the first – it is much lighter and is capable of reaching higher speeds in a shorter duration. It will run six days a week except Wednesday, stopping at Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib and Una. It accelerates to 100 kmph in just 52 seconds.

The foundation stone of IIT Una, which the PM will dedicate to the nation on Thursday, was laid by him in 2017. Presently, more than 530 students are studying in this institute.

The Bulk Drug Park that will lay the foundation stone in Una will be constructed at a cost of over Rs 1900 crore. The Park API will help in reducing the dependence on imports. It is expected to attract investment of about Rs 10,000 crore and provide employment to over 20,000 people. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), it will also boost economic activities in the region.

After that, at a public function in Chamba, the PM will lay the foundation stone for the 48 MW Chanju-III hydro-electric project and the 30 MW Deothal Chanju hydro-electric project, which will generate over 270 million units of electricity annually. Himachal Pradesh is expected to get an annual revenue of about Rs 110 crore from these projects.

The Prime Minister will also launch Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III to upgrade about 3125 km of roads in the state. Over Rs 420 crore has been approved by the Center for upgradation of 440 km of roads in 15 border and remote blocks of the state under this phase.

Elections in Himachal Pradesh are due later this year.
