PM Modi’s double bonus for UP next week: 9 medical colleges launched, projects worth crores

Prime minister Narendra Modi On October 25, he will give a double gift to Uttar Pradesh as he will visit his parliamentary constituencies of Varanasi and Siddharthnagar. He will also unveil nine medical colleges from Siddharthnagar and 30 projects worth Rs 5,000 crore and possibly Rs 64,000 crore National Medical Plan from Varanasi.

Modi will hold large public meetings at both the places, which seems to be the pre-election campaign for the Uttar Pradesh elections early next year. This comes close on the heels of a rally organized by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Varanasi last week.

Just two days back, the PM was in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar to inaugurate the international airport and other projects. Earlier he was in Aligarh. Modi will be in Lucknow next month to inaugurate UP’s longest Purvanchal Expressway.

Sources in the UP government said the PM is likely to unveil the mega ‘Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana’ from Varanasi, which was announced in this year’s budget with an outlay of Rs 64,180 crore. A central government source said that the scheme was likely to be launched but a decision has not been taken yet. If this happens, then PM Modi will start the third big scheme from Uttar Pradesh after Swachh Bharat and PM Ujjwala Yojana.

Measures under the scheme focus on capacity building of health systems and institutions, such as support for 17,788 rural health and wellness centers in 10 high focus states, setting up of 11,024 urban health and wellness centers in all states, in all Establishment of Integrated Public Health Laboratories 3,382 Block Public Health Units in Districts and 11 High Focus States, Establishment of Critical Care Hospital Blocks in 602 Districts and 12 Central Institutes and Integrated for all States/UTs to link all Public Health Laboratories Expansion of health information portal.

Other projects likely to be unveiled by the PM in Varanasi include Phase II of Varanasi’s Ring Road project, bridges and other development projects. The nine medical colleges that will be unveiled by the PM from Siddharthnagar have been named after various icons of the state.
