“PM Needs No Validation”: BJP Lashes Mamata Banerjee On Surprise Remark

On the alleged misuse of CBI, Mamata Banerjee had said that she does not report to the PM but to the Home Minister.

New Delhi:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today took a jibe at the BJP for nearly acquitting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged misuse of investigative agencies. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted, “Nobody in the BJP and certainly the PM needs any recognition from Mamata Banerjee.”

He said his Trinamool Congress government and his “immediate family” – an apparent reference to party MP Abhishek Banerjee, his nephew and designated political heir – are “under the radar of central agencies, as the courts ordered an investigation”. “He has to give account of the loot,” he said.

Mamta Banerjee yesterday left everything to the PM For any role in the investigation that may drive businessmen out of India. He said that “BJP leaders (who) are conspiring” are to blame for this. He said the CBI reports to the Union Home Ministry, which is controlled by Amit Shah, and not to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Mamata Banerjee said in the Bengal Assembly during a debate started by her party, “Traders are on the run because of fear and misuse of ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation). I believe Modi did this. not done.” Central investigative agencies are being “misused by the Centre”.

“Many of you are not aware that the CBI no longer reports to the PMO. It reports to the Home Ministry,” he said.

However, the assembly passed a resolution against the alleged misuse of central agencies. The matter is of the day when ED said that Assets worth over Rs 100 crore attached The sacked minister under money laundering probe in the job scam is allegedly linked to Partha Chatterjee.

While Mamata Banerjee distanced herself from the PM and the investigating agencies, she stood firm on the party’s stand that the investigation was politically motivated.

“How many raids have been conducted at the residences of leaders who have gone to your party?” He said addressing the BJP in the Assembly, which forms the main opposition in Bengal after losing a bitter fight to the Trinamool last year.

“You (BJP) will go in 2024 (Lok Sabha elections). Those who are flying like gas balloons will understand,” he said.

But his party is still looking up to him for clarity on his “not prime minister” remark. Senior leader and MP Saugata Roy said today, “Only she can say what is the political significance of her statement.”
