PM promises ‘Nawa Punjab’ free from drugs and debt, Gandhi family to run ‘remote control government’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at the Congress during a rally in Jalandhar and accused the party of “humiliating” Amarinder Singh and trying to run the state government with “remote control”. PM Modi said that his government will work for ‘drug free’ and ‘Nawa Punjab’.

“Look at the Congress party today… their own leaders are talking against their party…. How can such a party work for Punjab? How will they work for the development of Punjab?” PM Modi addressing his first physical rally in Punjab for the assembly elections to be held on February 20.

He referred to Priyanka Gandhi’s comments about Amarinder Singh’s government in Delhi being ‘remote controlled’ by the government.

He said, ‘They said that we do not want the Captain’s government to run in Delhi. This means that Congress governments run a family by remote control and not by the Constitution.”

He also targeted the Congress government in Punjab, saying that he wants to visit the Devi Talab temple here, but the police and administration are unable to make arrangements.

“I wanted to worship at Tripuramalini Devi Shaktipeeth after the event but the administration and police said they would not be able to make arrangements. This is the position of the government here. But I will definitely worship at Shaktipeeth soon: PM Modi

PM Modi said that his party would work for a drug-free Punjab and he also launched a new slogan for his party’s campaign: “Nawa Punjab, BJP De Naal, Nawa Punjab, Naye Team De Naal.”

He said, “I have worked for Punjab. I want to serve Punjab by making it drug-free. I understand your pain. I want to give a safe environment to the youth of Punjab.”

He also hit out at you and said, “Some people who specialize in opening liquor shops in every street have also come to Punjab, they want to hand over Punjab to drug mafia.”

Modi also hit out at former ally Akali Dal and said the double engine government would work for the benefit of farmers.

“We had more MLAs but we wanted to work for the future of Punjab and support the Akalis. Badal made his son deputy CM and not BJP: PM Modi.

The Prime Minister also praised former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, whose newly formed Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) is contesting in alliance with the BJP.

“Former CM Amarinder Singh worked with the Center as per federalism. NDA will form the government in Punjab, and ‘Nawa Punjab’ will be debt-free,” remarked Modi.

The PM’s visit to Jalandhar is his first Punjab tour after the security of PM’s convoy was breached on January 5. The (revolutionary) had blocked the road in front of the convoy.
