PM said ‘conspiracy’, ‘campaign to defame’ film ‘The Kashmir Files’

The Kashmir Files: Several BJP-ruled states have exempted the film from entertainment tax.

In the latest endorsement for director Vivek Agnihotri’s hit film ‘The Kashmir Files,Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said such films “expose the truth” and claimed there was a “conspiracy” to defame it. Speaking at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting in Delhi, PM Modi took a dig at the critics of the films and remarked that it was bringing out the truth which was deliberately hidden.

The film, directed and written by Vivek Agnihotri, depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the state following the systematic killings of members of the community by Pakistan-backed terrorists.

The film stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi.

Several BJP-ruled states have exempted the film from entertainment tax, with some chief ministers explicitly supporting the recently released Bollywood film.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that she and her entire cabinet will watch the film,

In the neighboring state of Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced that the state government would make screening of the film tax-free.

Government of Madhya Pradesh announced yesterday Policemen in the state will be given leave to watch films. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had on Sunday exempted it from entertainment tax in the state, saying that the film deserves to be watched by more and more people.

Acting Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawanti has also said That the film will continue to be released in the state with more and more possible shows.
