PM says India is developing as the world’s defense exporter

New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh on Tuesday that India’s image is changing from a major defense importer to a defense exporter of the world, and the country is now building warships by manufacturing rifles.

The Prime Minister was speaking after an education program where he laid the foundation stone of a state university. “Not only the country, but the whole world is watching India manufacturing defense equipment ranging from modern grenades and rifles to fighter aircraft, drones and warships,” Modi said.

“India is moving out of the image of one of the world’s largest defense importers and moving towards a new identity of one of the world’s important defense exporters,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

In his speech, PM Modi also highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is becoming a hotbed of this transformation and said that “one and a half dozen defense manufacturing companies will create thousands of jobs with an investment of hundreds of crores of rupees. New industries are coming up to support manufacturing of small arms, armaments, drones and aerospace related products in the Aligarh node of the Defense Corridor. This will give a new identity to Aligarh and its surrounding areas.

The Prime Minister said that Aligarh, which was famous for protecting houses and shops with its famous locks, would now also be famous for manufacturing products that guard the country’s borders. According to the statement of the PMO, this will create new opportunities for youth and MSMEs.

PM Modi claimed that Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a very attractive place for small and big investors and credited the state for creating the necessary environment for investment. “Today Uttar Pradesh is becoming a great example of double engine government’s double profit.”

PM Modi also told how his government is working for the farmers by increasing the MSP by 1.5 times, extending Kisan Credit Card, improving the insurance scheme, provision of pension. 3,000″ and how they are empowering small farmers.

Modi laid the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh and also visited the exhibition model of Aligarh node of Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor.
