Point of pride: Indians get 100 patents for 6G technology

Information Technology and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Indian scientists, engineers and education professionals have secured 100 patents for 6G technology. At the India Research Summit of Aarrest Chamber of Commerce, Vaishnav said that India is jumping into 5G technology with the fastest network in the world.

“Electronics is very complex, but despite the characteristics, our scientists, engineers and academics together have achieved 100 patents in 6G,” he said.

The minister said that the government’s target was to attract 5G networks to 200 cities by March 31, 2023. But currently the network has reached 397 cities. He said that India’s industry has become 3,500 billion dollars and it can become the world’s largest industry with changes in governance, work planning and organization.

Vaishnav said, “When a country or industry has checkpoints to this level, thousands of systems are inevitable. This includes changes in governance system, logistics system, banking system and own business method. This is the time when everyone should join this journey of change. If we can make this change then there is no such force which can stop India from becoming a $30 trillion industry.

He said that 10 years ago 99 percent mobile telephones were imported whereas today 99 percent are being made in the country only. The minister criticized the Congress party, alleging dubious indifference towards mobile telephone manufacturing in the country in the past.

He said, “I remember 10 years back when we used to say in a launch that mobile penetration is good. People are using it, but it cannot be made here…Now a big change has come and mobile phones are being manufactured here.

The minister also said that India has started looking for telecom products to the US. He said, “Verification of radio equipment has started from India in seven-eight months and this claim is also being made to America.”

Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh asked enterprises to promote women leadership and explore business opportunities with the maritime industry. “We will have ocean research in the next 3-4 years. We have a 7,500 long coastline, which is longer than any other country.

The minister said that there is no dearth of talent in the country and they need to be given the right direction.
