Kanpur Police is continuing the crackdown on hookah bars in the city and has arrested 12 people for illegally running hookah bars in Swaroop Nagar area of the western region.
The police raided the posh lounge of the city on Sunday. On information that hookah was being served in two restaurants, ACP Swaroop Nagar Bridge Narayan Singh along with the team of Swaroop Nagar police station raided the premises.
Police found hookah bars operating in ‘Online Cafe’ and ‘Flying Saucer’ bars and restaurants.
Hookah, their flavor and other items were also recovered from the spot. An FIR has also been registered in the Swaroop Nagar police station regarding the above.
Hookah is banned but is being served illegally in many lounges in the city. This time big action has been taken by arresting 12 people.
According to ADCP Brijesh Srivastava, ‘Raids were conducted in the lounge for illegally serving hookah. Two FIRs have been registered in the matter. Action is being taken accordingly.”
