Police constable dies after getting electrocuted in rain water puddle at Jubilee Hills check post

On April 30, a police constable returning home on his motorcycle was electrocuted at the Jubilee Hills check post.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Solem Veeraswamy, a constable with the Greyhounds, a special force unit of the Telangana Police.

According to the Jubilee Hills police, Veeraswamy was on his way home after dropping his brother at 1st Battalion TSSP in Yousufguda. On reaching near pole number 1597 at Jubilee Hills check post, the constable lost control of his motorcycle and fell. It is feared that he may have fallen into a puddle of rainwater on the road, having come in contact with a faulty electrical leak from a nearby pole.

The patrolling police also attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he could not be revived. Doctors at a nearby private hospital declared him ‘dead on arrival’.

The body of the victim was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for further processing.

Jubilee Hills Police said that investigation has been started.
