Police deployed to stop ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ program

To stop the ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ proposed by the PRC Sadhana Samiti on 3 February, the police deployed additional force to prevent the employees from attending the programme.

Leaders of various unions gave a call for ‘Chalo Vijayawada’, in which thousands of employees are expected to participate. He applied for police permission, which was rejected.

Police arranged pickets on highways and at bus stands and railway stations to stop employees of various departments going to Vijayawada to attend the program on Thursday.

Additional forces have been deployed on all roads leading to Vijayawada and police were checking vehicles coming into Vijayawada and adjoining areas on Wednesday.

Police commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata said, “Police made security arrangements at BRTS Road and vigil has been beefed up with drones and surveillance cameras.”

Krishna district superintendent of police Siddhartha Kaushal has said that there is no permission for ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ and asked the staff to come to Vijayawada in view of the pandemic.

“Strict action will be taken against those who violate COVID-19 norms and flout Section 144 and Section 30 of the Police Act,” Mr Siddhartha warned.

Meanwhile, the police served notices to various employees union leaders and asked them not to participate in ‘Chalo Vijayawada’, for which the police refused permission.

Government employees in West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and other districts have been served notices and employees are being prevented from attending ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ from different places.
