Candidates who are ready to appear for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) The main examinations of the Civil Services Examination are demanding postponement of the examination due to the increasing cases of Omicron. The exam is going to start from 7th January. Around 9,200 candidates have cleared the prelims exam and are expected to appear in the main exam.

Candidates have taken to Twitter to put forth their demands. “With the rise in Covid cases and partial lockdown, please consider rescheduling the scheduled UPSC mains exam, which is for a period of 10 days. Many students need to travel to the nearest capital city for writing exams, accommodation and related travel,” said a Twitter user.
“People coming for #upscmains have to travel to cities which are currently infected with covid. Even it is not clear whether the hotels where people are going to stay will not be closed due to the Covid restrictions. This will create an unequal level of play for such candidates,” wrote another.
