Power sector workers to hold nationwide protest on Tuesday

The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has said that the employees of the power sector will hold a nationwide protest against the policies of privatization on Tuesday.

“On the call of National Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) power workers and engineers across the country will protest against the privatization policies of the central government,” an AIPEF statement said.

According to the statement, NCCOEEE has also decided that the leaders of the core committee of NCCOEEE will meet the Governor of Punjab on February 1 and submit a memorandum against the privatization of Chandigarh UT electricity department to him.

The office bearers of NCCOEEE core committee will address a strike rally of power workers in Puducherry on February 2.

AIPEF President Shailendra Dubey said, “About 15 lakh power workers and engineers across the country will hold nationwide protest/demonstration on February 1 at all district headquarters and projects against the privatization policies of the central government on the call of NCCOEEE.”

The main demands of power workers and engineers are – Withdraw the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021, the junk decision to privatize profit-making power departments of Union Territories – Chandigarh, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Puducherry, integrate all unconnected power utilities Do it. He said that states like KSEB Limited in Kerala and HPSEB Limited in Himachal Pradesh, implement the old pension scheme for all power employees recruited after demerger of SEB, regularize all outsourced power employees as has been done by the Telangana government. has done.

Dubey said that the leaders of NCCOEEE core committee will reach Chandigarh on February 1 to support the strike of UT Power employees against privatization. Leaders against the privatization of Chandigarh’s profit-making electricity department will meet the Governor on February 1 and submit a memorandum to him.
