Known for curating one of the most innovative ‘pandal’ ideas, the committee is going to build Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir-themed pandal on the lawns of the Red Fort this year. Prabhas will grace the event on Vijayadashami, which falls on October 5 this year.
Arjun Kumar, head of Luv Kush Ramleela Samiti, while talking to the media expressed his excitement about this year’s plans and said, “Since Prabhas is already playing the role of Lord Ram in the upcoming film Aadipurush, which is set to be evil. Better to do them than him. This Dussehra fires Ravana!
He further added, “As usual there are going to be three effigies – one each of Ravana, Kumbh Karan and Meghnad, and Prabhas will shoot his arrow in the air to burn each of them!”
This year the effigies in the pandal are going to be 100 feet high. Earlier, actors like Ajay Devgn and John Abraham have been a part of the grand celebrations of the committee.
Talking about the festival calendar this year, the 10-day-long Dussehra festival will start from 26 September and end on 5 October.
Every year Dussehra is celebrated to commemorate the victory of good over evil as Lord Rama killed Ravana on this day. In some regions, the festival—also known as Vijayadashmi—celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura.
Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Ashwin during the Aparahan period.
