Prashant Kishor asked me to merge JDU with Congress: Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday claimed that former JD(U) leader and election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor asked him to merge his JD(U) with the Congress party. He also denied Prashant’s claim that he was called by the Chief Minister and asked to lead the JD(U). News comes that Kishor is on ‘Jan Suraj Padayatra’ – a journey of 3500 kms covering every corner of Bihar.

Kumar said, “Let him speak whatever he wants. What he says has no meaning. Four-five years ago, he asked me to merge with the Congress. Now, he is working for the BJP. ,” said Kumar.

Kumar was talking to reporters at Sitab Diyara, the birthplace of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan. He also told that Prashant Kishor had recently met him without invitation.

“He had come to meet me recently. I did not invite him. He talks so much but hides the fact that once he asked me to merge his party with the Congress,” Kumar said.

On Tuesday, Prashant Kishor claimed that the Chief Minister of Bihar called him 10-15 days ago and asked him to lead the JD(U), an offer he declined.

“I said it is not possible. I cannot go back on the promise made in return for any position,” Kishor said.

Prashant Kishor, the founder of political consultancy firm IPAC, joined the JD(U) in 2018 and within weeks he was elevated to the level of national vice-president—not to be liked by many in the JD(U)’s ‘old guard’. In 2020, differences arose between him and JD(U) leaders over the issue of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and he was later expelled from the party for indiscipline and anti-party activities.

teen Made a name in political consultancy and worked with various parties like BJP, Congress, TMC, DMK, JD(U), etc. His organization IPAC is credited for the electoral victories of leaders like Narendra Modi, Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, etc. ,

Recently, he left the consulting sector to start his own political movement. Kishor is currently on a padyatra in Bihar, which he started on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
