Prashant Kishor rejects Sonia Gandhi’s joining Congress, says party needs ‘collective will, leadership’ India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Election Strategist Prashant Kishor refused on tuesday CongressA “generous offer” to join the party as a member of the Empowered Working Group constituted by Sonia Gandhi,
“I have rejected the generous offer of #Congress to join the party as part of the EAG and take responsibility for the elections,” Kishor said on Twitter.

Kishor further said that the Congress needs “leadership and collective will to fix deep-rooted structural problems through transformational reforms”.

Moments before Kishor’s tweet, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had announced that the election strategist had been offered a position in the Empowered Group with a defined responsibility, but he declined to take it.
“After a presentation and discussion with Mr. Prashant Kishor, the Congress President has constituted an Empowered Working Group 2024 and invited him to join the party as part of the group with defined responsibility. He declined. We appreciate his efforts and suggestions given to the party, tweeted Surjewala.

Prashant Kishor made a presentation to the Congress leadership on the proposed action plan to revive the party. The oldest party has been wiped out in the last two Lok Sabha elections.
It has also lost many states in the last 7 years and is currently in power in only two states – Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
According to Congress leaders, Kishor had not sought any position or mandate, but offered a plan which he believed should be implemented, ranging from organization restructuring to public messages.

He had also announced the formation of several committees to prepare for the three-day “Chintan Shivir” to be held in Udaipur, Rajasthan from May 13 to May 15.
The Chintan Shivir was part of the measures announced by the Congress President to ensure that every leader had a stake in rebuilding the Congress.
