Pregnant woman gang-raped at Repalle railway station in Andhra Pradesh

A pregnant woman and a mother of three children were allegedly gang-raped by three men on Saturday night at Repalle railway station in Bapatla district.

The incident took place at platform number 1, where the victim was waiting to board the train along with her family members, around 1 am.

Bapatla district superintendent of police Vakul Jindal, who visited the spot, said the drunken accused thrashed the woman’s husband and resorted to the heinous act.

The woman (aged 27), a native of Prakasam district, was on her way to Nagayanka in Krishna district

“The victim was shifted to the local government area hospital. The police picked up the suspects and are questioning them.” Hindu on Sunday.

Vakul Jindal said, “We are probing how the crime took place at the railway station platform, where Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) stations were located and railway staff were on duty.”

Andhra Pradesh Commission for Women’s chairman Vasireddy Padma, who is probing the incident, has directed the police to take serious action against the accused.

Ms. Padma directed the doctors to provide better medical aid to the victim.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party leaders staged a sit-in at the hospital demanding action against the accused.
