Leeds striker Patrick Bamford could return from injury to help the Premier League club fight relegation with two games left in the season.

Bamford has been limited to nine league appearances this season but manager Jesse Marsh is hopeful of Sunday’s game against Brighton at land Road.

“We will evaluate it in the next days,” the US manager said on Friday. “I want to give him the opportunity to continue making progress and then decide on his participation for each match.”

Bamford scored 17 goals last season, but the campaign was sidelined due to persistent injuries, including a foot problem that kept him out of the march. He has netted twice in the league this season.

Leeds forward Jack Harrison and Rafinha will both be set to play, Marsh confirmed, after being substituted with minor injuries in a midweek loss to Chelsea. Rafinha leads the team with 10 league goals.

Leeds and Burnley are tied on points (34) but Leeds sits on a far worse goal gap in the drop zone. Burnley have three games to play – Leeds two.

Midtable Brighton are on a roll, having beaten Manchester United 4-0 last Saturday and Wolverhampton 3-0 a week ago. Leandro Trossard scored in each.

“This match could certainly be the defining moment in the season,” said Marsh, whose team closes the season at Brentford.

Burnley play fifth at Tottenham on Sunday, Aston Villa on Thursday, and host Newcastle in the season finale.
