Liverpool registered their first win of the season after the Premier League (PL) beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in London on Sunday. A brace from Mohamed Salah disappointed the Londoners, as they have now lost three out of four PL matches. The day also saw a win for the likes of Arsenal against Chelsea, who are now back at the top of the PL standings, while Aston Villa surprised Manchester United as Unai Emery returned to the PL.

Liverpool hold the lead

Liverpool made a late charge from Tottenham after Mohamed Salah twice won 2-1 in north London and found themselves back in the running for the top four of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had suffered relegation losses to Nottingham Forest and Leeds in their last two league outings, but started quickly against Spurs, with a sharp touch and in-form advice from the bottom corner. The finish gave them the lead on 11 minutes. ,

Arsenal passed the biggest test of their title credentials to date as Gabriel’s goal gave them a 1-0 win at Chelsea and a return to the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners’ Brazilian centre-back touched Bukayo Saka’s corner in the middle of the second half and earned Mikel Arteta’s side three points.

Manchester United stunned by returning Unai Emery

Unai Emery scored Aston Villa’s first Premier League home win over Manchester United since 1995 as they beat Eric ten Haag’s team 3–1 at Villa Park.

Leon Bailey scored for Villa in the seventh minute and when Lucas Digne scored in a free-kick, there were wild celebrations between home supports. Luke Shaw’s deflected strike, which went off over Jacob Ramsey, just before interval United lacked hope – but not for long.
