President Ram Nath Kovind, during his visit to Turkmenistan on 02 April, emphasized on Turkmenistan being an important partner for India and thanked the country for its support for India’s permanent membership in the UNSC. “Turkmenistan is an important partner for India – the framework of the Central Asia Summit, which was first hosted by India in January this year. We agreed to further enhance cooperation within the framework that flows from the India-Central Asia Summit, President Kovind said, “I commend India’s initiative for permanent membership of a reformed and expanded UN Security Council as well as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the period 2021-22 Thank you Turkmenistan.”
