NDA’s candidate for Presidential election Draupadi Murmu will file her nomination papers on Friday.

Amaravati:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday extended his support to NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, who would be the first tribal woman to hold the post if she wins.

According to an official statement from the state government, CM Jagan believes that this is in line with the always emphasis on representation of SC, ST, BC and minority communities.

In the last three years, CM Jagan has attached great importance to the upliftment of these communities and has also ensured that they are well represented in the cabinet, which has the lion’s share of 70 per cent.

However, the CM will not be able to attend the filing of nomination by Draupadi Murmu due to the previously scheduled cabinet meeting. Instead, Rajya Sabha member and party parliamentary affairs leader Vijayasai Reddy and Lok Sabha member Midhun Reddy should be in attendance.

Earlier in the day, Ms Murmu reached Delhi and held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda. Presidential elections will be held on 18 July.
