Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t the most talked about royals. The two saw major changes in their lives, from their stormy romance to their royal wedding, and from stepping down as senior members of the royal family to welcoming their daughter. And now, they’ll be sharing their stories with audiences around the world through the Netflix documentary.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are about to bring the curtains down on their love story and step back from life as working royals. After months of suspense, Netflix on Thursday released the first-look trailer for the highly anticipated documentary series. The six-part documentary series focuses on the couple’s love story and their lives as members of the royal family.
project, ‘What happened, Miss Simone?’ Helmed by director Liz Garbus, it promises an intimate account of the couple’s courtship — and unprecedented access to their tumultuous years as senior royals. (‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’, incidentally, is a 2015 documentary on the life and music of famed singer and activist Nina Simone.)
In the trailer, which shares a series of romantic photos of the couple, but none with their two children, Garbus is heard saying, “Why did you want to make this documentary?” To which Harry replies – in voiceover – “Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors,” ‘Variety’ reports.
“I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” says Harry.
Markle, a former ‘The Suits’ star, says in an interview for the camera: “When the stakes are so high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story?”
The 50-second trailer, which is set to dramatic music and features a flash of Markle and Harry looking at one point emotionally during an interview, does not provide a release date for the series, Which is only described as “coming soon”. ,
The trailer also includes images of the couple in happier times, along with several happy shots of them.
