A prisoner committed suicide by hanging himself in the Sangareddy district jail on Saturday.
According to sources, 35-year-old G. Ashok was in the Sangareddy district jail in connection with a 2007 murder case. He was a resident of Uppulingpur in Veldurthi mandal. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2009. He was out on parole for 30 days and was absconding since then. In this regard, the officials of the jail department lodged a complaint and on August 17, he was caught in Tooran and brought back to jail.
On Saturday, Ashok hanged himself in the barracks. He was immediately taken to the government hospital where he died during treatment. Police is investigating after registering a case.
