India will play three T20Is against New Zealand from November 18, followed by three ODIs against the same team. They then tour Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and a two-Test series. When asked about the decision not to pick Shaw in the virtual press conference, India’s chief selector Chetan Sharma said that they are keeping a constant eye on the player and he will get a chance in future. However, minutes after the squad was announced, Shaw posted a cryptic note on Instagram Story.

“Hope you see everything Sai Baba,” Shaw wrote on his Instagram story.

When asked about Shaw’s disappearance, Chetan Sharma said that it is important for the selection committee to give chances to players who are already in the team’s set-up and performing well. However, he reiterated that Shaw would “definitely get his chance”.

“We’re basically looking for Prithvi (Shaw). We’re in constant contact with Prithvi. He’s doing well. There’s nothing wrong with him. The thing is, we have to see who’s going first. Been playing and performing or not. He is getting a chance. He will definitely get his chance while batting. The selectors are in constant touch with Prithvi.
