Racing simulator is a piece of technology that many automobile enthusiasts and gamers alike are interested in. The wide range of products available serve many different purposes, from arcade gaming to race driver development, and some of the most exclusive simulators that cost more than a million dollars, including test and more such as the development of race cars for racing teams. They also serve important applications. Prototype parts, or even entire prototype cars. While you won’t need to have a million dollar racing simulator at your home – unless you’re a top paying Formula 1 driver – you can have a decent racing simulator at home for as little as $1000.

A Basic Home Racing Simulator

These racing simulators – although very functional – are rarely aesthetically pleasing. While the setup might look great to a tech or motorsport fan, it’s too purposeful and out of place to be displayed in a home’s drawing room. That was exactly the thought process of Prodrive President David Richards, and he decided to create a home racing simulator that, while being technologically advanced and highly functional, would look like a piece of art.

“Most of the racing simulators on the market today are very functional but not particularly attractive. What I wanted was something that was like a piece of modern art; something that you could have in your home like a grand piano or sculpture would be proud to display, truly something that would not look out of place in a gallery of contemporary art”, he added.

“Designing the simulator was a great opportunity to be technically stimulating as well as visually abstract,” said Ian Callum, ex-Jaguar car designer and founder of Callum, an independent automotive and product design agency that designs the Prodrive racing simulator. Still working.

Callum has created a design for the simulator so that it looks like a designer furniture, and has used a mix of natural materials and carbon composites to give it a unique appeal.

Prodrive says the first Prodrive motorsport simulators will be manufactured at the company’s headquarters in Banbury, UK, and will be available in the summer.
