Prost and Alpine F1 team parted ways

Prost said on his Instagram page that he was “very disappointed” with the way the news unfolded.

Four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost accused Alpine of a lack of respect on 17 January after it emerged that he had left the Renault-owned team, where he was non-executive director.

The 66-year-old, the only Frenchman to win the title, joined the team in 2017 as a mentor.

Media, including the official www.Formula1.com website, reported that Alpine had not renewed Prost’s annual contract, although no official statement was made from the team as part of the management change.

Prost said on his Instagram page that he was “very disappointed” with the way the news unfolded.

“It was agreed that we will announce together with @alpinef1team! No respect sorry!” They said.

“I declined the offer made to me for the 2022 season in Abu Dhabi due to personal ties and I was right! I will miss you for Enstone and the Veeri team.”

Alpine announced last week that its executive director Marcin Budkowski, who effectively ran the day-to-day operations, had left the team. With Chief Executive Laurent Rossi temporarily assuming his duties.

A reorganization a year earlier saw the departure of team principal Cyril Abiteboul.
