Pune: Maratha federation protests against CM Bommai of Karnataka, messages written on buses

Pune (Maharashtra) [India]Members of the Maratha Mahasangh painted ‘Jai Maharashtra’ message on buses plying between Maharashtra and Karnataka to protest against Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s remarks on the border dispute between the two states.

A group of members of the Maratha Mahasangh were seen writing words like ‘Zaheer Nidhi’ and ‘Jai Maharashtra’ with black paint on a Nippani-Aurangabad bus in Pune district on Thursday.

They stood in front of a bus running under the Karnataka State Road Transport and raised slogans against Bommai.

“Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given provocative statement on Karnataka Maharashtra border issue and his dream will never come true. Bommai tweeted on Wednesday evening, our government is committed to protect the country’s land, water and borders.

Bommai had earlier said that the boundary line has become a political tool in Maharashtra, and any party in power will raise the issue for political purposes.

Bommai had said, “My government is capable of protecting the borders of Karnataka and has also taken steps.”

Bommai claimed that some villages in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, which are facing water crisis, have passed a resolution demanding merger with Karnataka.

However, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra refuted the claims and said that no such village has sought merger with Karnataka in the recent past. (ANI)
