Chandigarh: The new cabinet of Punjab under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mannu, took its first decision on Saturday – to recruit for 25,000 government jobs in the state. Out of these, 10,000 jobs will be for various posts in Punjab Police while the rest will be in other government departments, boards and corporations of the state government.
After the cabinet meeting, Mann said, “The posts will be filled purely on the basis of merit, according to the degree, without any favour, influence or bribery. We promised to check unemployment and stop the migration of youth by creating jobs.” This is the first decision soon after the AAP government got the right to ‘Green Pain’. The process of advertisement and notification of these jobs will be started within a month. The AAP government will soon fulfill the other ‘guarantees’ of the party. ”
An official spokesperson said that the decision is aimed at opening up new avenues of employment for the youth by providing them employment in the government sector through a transparent and merit-based mechanism.
Mann also tweeted, “Chaired the first cabinet meeting. Punjab cabinet has approved notification of 25,000 job vacancies within a month. As we promised before the election, job openings for the youth of Punjab Opportunity will be the top priority of the AAP government (sic).”
The cabinet also approved the supplementary demands for grants for 2021-22 to be presented in the upcoming assembly session. Similarly, the cabinet gave its approval for the presentation of the estimated expenditure statement (vote on account) of Punjab for 2022-23 from April 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022, which is mandated to be tabled in the state assembly.
