Punjab Congress Crisis Live Updates: Sidhu is likely to meet Rahul Gandhi today as Congress prepares to announce decision on his resignation letter

Sidhu had resigned from the post of Punjab Congress President on 28 September after he posted his resignation on Twitter. No decision has yet been taken by the party leadership on his resignation. He was asked to meet the party leadership and met AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal and party General Secretary for Punjab Affairs Harish Rawat at the party headquarters.

During the meeting, the Punjab Congress leader expressed concern over the 18-point agenda raised by the leadership, on which action is pending. These include action against those involved in sacrilege cases and drug mafia. Sidhu has recently objected to the appointment of the new Police Chief and Advocate General of Punjab. After the meeting, Sidhu said that any decision taken by the Gandhi family would be in the interest of the party and Punjab and he would abide by it.

He said, “I have raised my concerns regarding Punjab and Punjab Congress with the party high command and I have full faith in Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul ji and Priyanka ji that whatever decision they will take will be in the interest of Congress and Punjab. Will happen.” said. “I always consider him supreme and will follow every instruction given by him,” Sidhu told reporters.

Senior party leaders said a final decision on Sidhu’s resignation would be taken by Friday and there would be clarity on the issue. Rawat said that Sidhu was appointed as the Punjab Congress chief and he was asked to set up the organization in the state and strengthen it further. After the meeting, Rawat said, “Navjot Sidhu has been asked to work as Punjab Congress President and prepare and strengthen the organization’s structure.”

“Mr Sidhu clearly told you that whatever decision Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi take will be completely acceptable to them and they will abide by it. The orders are absolutely clear that he performs his duty as Punjab Congress President firmly and quickly establishes the organizational structure,” the party general secretary said. He said the party would formally issue the relevant decision by Friday. “Tomorrow the situation will become very clear. The orders are clear that he acts with all his might as Punjab Congress chief,” Rawat said.

Asked whether Sidhu’s resignation would be accepted, he said, “Every decision is taken through a process and it has established practices.”
