Chandigarh: A day after the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa called lynching Lakhbir Singh In a possible conspiracy to defame the farmers’ agitation along the Singhu border, the state government on Wednesday constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the brutal murder.

As per the order issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, the SIT constituted under the chairmanship of Varinder Kumar, ADGP-cum-Director, Bureau of Investigation, Inderbir Singh, DIG Ferozepur Range, and Harvinder Singh, SSP Tarn Taran.
Varinder Kumar has been authorized to co-opt any other police officer posted in the State for investigation as required. They have also been given the freedom to seek the support and assistance of any other wing/unit of the Punjab Police.
