Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that since May 1, the state government has so far taken over 9,053 acres of land which was illegally occupied by people from across the state, including influential people.

Mr. Mann said that in the campaign launched on July 29, the government has captured 2,828 acres of land worth Rs 350 crore in Majri block of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district from 15 influential encroachers including newly elected sons. Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann and former Congress minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar.

Mr. Mann said that the encroached land was the principal land in the village Chhoti Badi Naggal (Majri) and had been occupied illegally for a long time by many influential officials and politicians. He said the illegal occupants included Imanjit Singh Mann, son of Mr Simranjit Singh Mann, who had occupied 125 acres, and Harmandeep Singh Dhaliwal, son of Mr Kangar, who had encroached upon five acres. Similarly, Sangrur MP’s daughter and son-in-law have also illegally occupied 28 acres, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has taken over 9,053 acres of prime land which was illegally occupied since May 1, which he said was one of the promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party during the 2022 assembly election campaign. Told.
