Punjab Result: Bhagwant Mann to meet Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi today

Newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday left for New Delhi where he is scheduled to meet Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Before leaving for Delhi from Sangrur, Mann said, “I am going to Delhi to meet my party’s founder Arvind Kejriwal.”

In the Punjab assembly elections, AAP had won a landslide victory by winning 92 seats to form its government in the state with a three-fourth majority in the 117-member assembly.

Stating that the date for the swearing-in ceremony would be announced by this evening, the newly elected chief minister also took a dig at the politics of horse-trading. “We can call our legislature party meeting anytime. We don’t need to rush or worry because our MLAs are honest, they are not running to other states,” Mann said.

Mann, who won from Dhuri assembly constituency in Sangrur district by a margin of 58,206 votes, had yesterday announced that the swearing-in ceremony would be held at Khatkar Kalan in Nawanshahr district, the native village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Addressing party workers from the terrace of his Sangrur residence on Thursday, Mann said, “I will take oath as chief minister from Khatkar Kalan, the birthplace of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.”
