Putin signs Russian law establishing electronic draft system

Vladimir Putin on Friday signed a bill on the establishment of electronic draft call-ups.

Moscow:

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday signed into law a law establishing electronic draft call-up procedures aimed at making military mobilization more efficient and plugging loopholes.

A website outlining legislative procedures said Putin signed the law, endorsed by the lower house of parliament’s State Duma, this week.

Russia says it mobilized more than 300,000 men last year alone to help bolster its “special military operations” in Ukraine.
