Quad will act as a force for global good: Modi

The US President hosted the first in person Quad Summit at the White House.

On September 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his counterparts from Australia and Japan, attended the first individual summit of the Quad leaders hosted by US President Joe Biden and said he firmly believes that the Group of Four democracies will form a “force”. will act for the global good” and ensure peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific as well as the entire world.

Inaugurating the summit, Mr Biden said four democracies have come together to address common challenges ranging from COVID-19 to climate. “This group has democratic partners who share world views and have a similar vision for the future,” he said. “We know how to do things and are up to the challenge,” he said.

In a short and candid opening speech, Prime Minister Modi said he was confident that “our participation in the Quad will ensure peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific as well as the entire world”.

He said, “I am confident that our cooperation will establish peace and prosperity in the world and in the Indo-Pacific. I firmly believe that our Quad will act as a force for global good. We are committed to regional cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. They came together for the first time since the 2004 tsunami.

“Today, as the world battles COVID-19, we have come together again for the sake of humanity as part of the Quad. Our Quad Vaccine initiative will help the Indo-Pacific countries a lot,” he said. “Based on our shared democratic values, the Quad has decided to move forward with a positive mindset and a positive outlook. Be it supply chain or global security, climate action or COVID-19 response, or collaboration in technology, I would be happy to discuss with my partners at Quad. ”

Mr Morrison said the Indo-Pacific region should be free from coercion and disputes should be resolved in accordance with international law. “In the Indo-Pacific there are huge challenges and challenges to be overcome. So much has been accomplished in the six months since the last meeting. We stand together here in the Info Pacific region,” he said.

“I hope we are able to hold a relevant summit,” said Japanese Prime Minister Suga.
