The Congress on Sunday hit out at the government amid questioning of Congress leader Gandhi by the Delhi Police, saying, “Savarkar understood what… name is Rahul Gandhi.” Reacting to this, Law Minister and BJP leader Kiren Rijiju tweeted, “Please don’t insult the great soul Veer Savarkar. Officials said a police team led by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda was able to meet Rahul at the station at around 10 am and Gandhi at his 12, Tughlaq Lane residence around two hours later. Officials said the police force returned around 1 pm.
The Delhi Police had given a stint to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, taking the name of a social media post and asking him to “give details about women who approached him with complaints of sexual harassment”.
According to the police, Rahul had made the statement during the Srinagar leg of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, “I have heard that women are still being sexually assaulted.”
