Rae Bareli Hockey Stadium renamed in honor of Indian icon Rani Rampal

Indian team’s star hockey player Rani Rampal has become the first woman player in the game to have a stadium named after her in Rae Bareli.

MCF Rae Bareli has renamed the hockey stadium as ‘Rani’s Girls Hockey Turf’.

Rani shared pictures on her social media handle where she is seen interacting with the players and inaugurating the stadium along with other staff members.

Rani wrote on her Twitter handle, “Words are too few to express my happiness and gratitude as I share that MCF Rae Bareli has renamed the Hockey Stadium as ‘Rani Girls Hockey Turf’ to honor my contribution to Hockey.” Is done.”

Expressing her gratitude, she said, “It is a proud and emotional moment for me as I have become the first woman hockey player to have a stadium named after her. I dedicate this to the Indian Women’s Hockey Team and I hope it inspires the next generation of women hockey players! Rani made a comeback to the Indian team during the tour of South Africa earlier this year, when she was included in the 22-man squad.

Rani was making her return to the side after last featuring in the FIH Women’s Hockey Pro League 2021-22 against Belgium, where she won her 250th cap for India.

The 28-year-old had been battling injury since the Tokyo Olympics and was subsequently dropped from the 2022 World Cup and Commonwealth Games squads.
