Rahul Dravid made formal application for the post of head coach; Is Laxman in the fray for NCA?

New Delhi Noted former captain Rahul Dravid is set to be the next head coach of the Indian cricket team, as he formally applied for the high-profile position on Tuesday.

With Dravid applying as the current head of the National Cricket Academy, the task of the Cricket Advisory Committee becomes easier as there is no big name on the field who can match the stature of this great batsman.

Also, it is reliably learned that she is the first and only choice of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah.

A senior said, “Yes, Rahul has formally applied today as it is the last day of the deadline. His team, bowling coach Paras (Mambre) and fielding coach Abhay (Sharma) have already applied for the NCA. His application was just a formality. BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.

Dravid had recently met BCCI officials in Dubai on the sidelines of the IPL final between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, where Ganguly and Shah stepped down after Ravi Shastri stepped down at the end of India’s campaign in the ICC. Talked about handling. T20 World Cup.

Under Dravid’s leadership, a new era in Indian cricket will begin with the home series against New Zealand where he will take charge alongside a new T20 captain, which will be Rohit Sharma.

Laxman in the fray for NCA, Kumble may be dropped

Former India batting great VVS Laxman may again take the field to lead the National Cricket Academy in case the post falls vacant in the coming days.

Sources have revealed that Laxman may not continue as the mentor of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad and if he is selected, he will also have to give up his media commitments including commentary and writing columns.

The national coach and the NCA chief are expected to work in close coordination keeping in mind the interests of Indian cricket.

It is understood that Dravid and Laxman, who have had a close relationship since their time playing for South Zone and later for nearly a decade and a half, would be the right choice for India.

The other aspect that needs to be chalked out is that Laxman hails from Hyderabad, where he has a young family, with children still in their teens and aging parents.

It is learned that Laxman, the NCA Director of Cricket was reluctant to take the offer, but the BCCI will once again approach him.

If he turns down the offer again, they will have to look for other options. Anil Kumble is another big name but it remains to be seen whether BCCI will approach the former India captain.

The NCA role worked well for Dravid as he hails from Bengaluru.

In Laxman’s case, if he has to stay in Bengaluru for at least 200 days in a year, it amounts to a temporary change of base and his remuneration also needs to be chalked out.
