Rahul Gandhi booked for unauthorized use of KGF-2 music during Bharat Jodi Yatra

A case has been registered against three senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, for alleged unauthorized use of music from blockbuster Kannada film ‘KGF-2’ during the party’s ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’.

An FIR was registered at Yesvantpur police station on Friday under provisions of Copyright Act, Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code against Mr Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya for using KGF-2 music for the ongoing Bharat Jodi Yatra . The complainant alleged that Jairam Ramesh posted two videos of Yatra on his official Twitter handle, in which popular songs from the film KGF-2 were used without permission.

“The said videos were created using popular sound recordings owned and held by the complainant. The said sound recording is of the cinematographic film “KGF Chapter 2″ (Hindi version), which is globally popular,” alleged Mr. Kumar. He said, “On watching the video it is clear that all the accused have made false profit making. has fraudulently, unauthorizedly and illegally used the sound recordings owned and held by the complainant with intent to do so,” he said.

Congress’ Bharat Jodi Yatra started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on 7th September and is expected to reach Jammu on 30th January 2023.

The march has so far covered the five southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. During this it will pass through different states.
