He said the Congress’ Bharat Jodi Yatra, which is currently in Maharashtra, aims to stand against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) policies of “spreading fear and hatred”.

Addressing a rally led by him at Mondha Maidan in Nanded in central Maharashtra, Gandhi said, “Farmers, laborers work hard but there is no return under Modi regime.”

The Lok Sabha MP from Kerala said that the Centre’s demonetisation (2016) policies and faulty implementation of GST (2017) have broken the back of the Indian economy and destroyed small and medium businesses that generate massive employment.

“Six years have passed since demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, but black money is still in circulation. Policies are being devised to spread fear among people. Farmers are not getting MSP for their produce or There is no waiver of their agricultural loans,” Gandhi said.

He continued the Bharat Yodo Yatra, which began in Tamil Nadu on 7 September and entered Maharashtra on the fourth day, progressing due to the love and affection of the common people.

The former Congress president said, “Even after walking 24 km a day, we do not get tired because the strength of the country is with us.”

Gandhi claimed that the policies of the Center were creating fear among the people and the BJP was using that sentiment to spread hatred.

“The yatra is to stand against such tendencies. No force can stop the yatra… We will go to Srinagar (where the walk will end in early 2023) and hoist the tricolor.” Describing an incident, Gandhi said, “When I went to visit Kedarnath, I met an RSS leader who was overweight and wanted good health from Lord Shiva.
