Railway committee to submit report on RRB NTPC, Group D on March 4

The committee constituted by the Indian Railways to examine the complaints raised by candidates in RRB NTPC and Group D exams will submit its report to the government on March 4. Within the first two weeks of the committee’s inception, it had received more than 1. Lakhs of inquiries

The major concern raised by RRB NTPC candidates was that RRB has selected more than 7 lakh roll numbers instead of 7 lakh candidates. It means that one candidate (roll number) has been selected for more than one post thereby reducing the chances for others.

The major concerns for Group D candidates revolve around the selection criteria. Earlier Group D was a single-window exam, however, now RRB has decided to conduct the second level exam. RRB said that this has been done because the number of candidates has been more.

Alleging scam in the recruitment process, railway job aspirants had staged protests across the states. Demonstrations had turned violent in many areas of Bihar. Due to the protest, the Railways had banned the next phase of recruitment. RRB said that it will ban candidates who cause damage to property from appearing in any railway recruitment exam.

One of the biggest recruitment exams, RRB NTPC had received over 1 crore applications. Lakhs of candidates had registered in Group D exam also.

The panel is expected to look into the concerns and prepare a report. The report is likely to be submitted to the ministry after which further action will be taken on the railway recruitment drive including both NTPC and Group D.

The members of the committee include Deepak Peter, Chairman, Chief Executive Director (Industrial Relations), Railway Board; Rajiv Gandhi, Member Secretary, Executive Director Establishment (RRB), Railway Board; Aditya Kumar, Member, Chief Personnel Officer (Admn.), Western Railway; Jagdish Alagar, Member Chairman RRB/Chennai; Mukesh Gupta, Member Chairman RRB/Bhopal.
