Rain in Karnataka: Rain wreaks havoc in North Karnataka; low-lying areas submerged | Hubli News – Times of India

More than 30 houses of Rayaralu Tanda in Vijayanagar district have been submerged in rain water.

Hubballi: Incessant rain in North Karnataka since Monday night has thrown life out of gear. Heavy rains have raised concerns among the organizers of the 75th birthday celebrations of Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah.
The Gadag, Koppal and Vijayanagar district administrations have declared a holiday in schools and colleges.
Davangere, where Siddaramaiah’s birthday is to be held on Wednesday, received 0.12 mm of rain till 8 am. Water has entered the cooking shed of the program. The organizers are worried about the success of the event. It is learned that many Congress workers are hesitant to take part in the event as the area is likely to receive rain till Saturday. The Suvarnamukhi river is in spate in neighboring Chitradurga district and Innoor villages have received 13 cm of rain.
Morning rains wreaked havoc in Vijayapura, submerging low-lying areas. Water from drains is flowing on many roads of the city. Officials of Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited have said that water can be released from Karanja reservoir at any time as the influx has increased in Bidar district. Several paddy fields were submerged in rain water in Gangavati, Karatagi and other taluks of Koppal district.
Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayanagar districts are also receiving continuous rain since Monday night. Almost all the streams, check dams in this area are completely filled.
