Raj Thackeray booked on Aurangabad rally speech; Maharashtra CM reviews law and order situation

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday convened an important meeting with senior party leaders at his residence to discuss further course of action if Hanuman Chalisa is chanted on loudspeakers outside mosques. Raj Thackeray said on Monday that Muslims will not be disturbed by celebrating Eid on Tuesday.

On the loudspeaker controversy, Raj Thackeray said he would announce his action plan via social media on Tuesday, while Aurangabad police scanned his speech to detect any legal violations.

The development comes a day after he opened fire on the use of loudspeakers in mosques during a rally in Aurangabad, earning most of the state’s political parties, especially the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition.

At the rally, he reiterated his ultimatum (May 4) to shut down loudspeakers from all religious places, especially mosques, by Wednesday, failing which his party workers would chant ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ at double decibel level in the state.
