JAIPUR: After a gap of two years, the state is set to witness big, fat weddings once again. Eager to organize destination weddings with NRIs Rajasthan RajasthanEvent managers are burning the midnight oil to make gala weddings grand.
As the miscellaneous restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic are gone, NRI Couples planning to get married have mostly booked hotels and wedding Venues in the state for November and December.
“The summer wedding season saw things happen. For the upcoming winter season of weddings, we are getting good bookings. After a gap of two years, NRIs Rajasthanis and NRIs are ready for destination weddings here, and they want to. Let it be grand.
Mohit Sand, a wedding manager in Jaipur, said, “They want it to be three days long, from mehendi, women’s sangeet to the main wedding.”
Sand said people are approaching him with wedding program ideas. “We expect to get the business we had in November and December 2019. Since then the industry has slipped,” he said.
Neeraj Vashne, a wedding manager in Delhi, said that NRIs preferred Jaipur, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur and Jodhpur for destination winter weddings. “In traveling, boarding, lodging and a three-day ceremony to wedding venues from abroad, they are willing to spend Rs 1 to 3 crore for a wedding in Rajasthan,” said Vashne.
Grand weddings promise good returns for a whole range of people: hotels, tour and travel agencies, chefs, band parties and event managers. Wedding planner Arshad Hussain said, “In Jaipur, all the prime properties are full for the destination wedding to be held in November and December.”
Daljit Arora, a leading food caterer in North India, has already started hiring more cooks and service staff for these weddings. Arora said, “The burden is on us, but it is a welcome change. There is a high demand for various Indian cuisines including Rajasthani food for various celebrations, for NRI weddings.”
