Rajasthan Congress says infighting in BJP unit has come to the fore

A day after there were signs of internal strife in the BJP’s Rajasthan unit ahead of the assembly session, the ruling Congress on Wednesday hit out at the opposition party, describing it as “an indisciplined party with six chief ministerial candidates”. Commenting on the letter written by senior BJP MLA and former speaker Kailash Meghwal to BJP National President JP Nadda against Leader of Opposition Gulabchand Kataria, Transport Minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas said that the questions raised by Meghwal are important.

Khachariyawas told reporters on Wednesday that though it is his internal matter, the questions raised by Meghwal are important. Health Minister Raghu Sharma said that the internal discord in the opposition party has clearly come to the fore.

The kind of circumstances that have been created clearly shows that BJP is an undisciplined party. BJP has 6 CM candidates. The party has recently taken out Jan Ashirwad Yatra, but for what are they seeking blessings? Sharma asked. He said that despite a significant drop in revenue, the Ashok Gehlot-led government in the state did not allow development works to be affected during the coronavirus pandemic. Meghwal had recently written a letter to BJP President Nadda saying that Kataria has harmed the saffron party with his remarks on Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap and Lord Ram.

Commenting on the letter, Kataria said that he is ready to accept the decision of the party in the matter. I am ready for whatever decision the party takes for me, he said in a video message. MLA Meghwal informed the party’s state president Satish Poonia through a letter that he would present a resolution against Kataria in the party’s legislative meeting before the assembly session starting on Thursday.

According to Meghwal’s letter to Poonia on 4 September, a motion will be moved to condemn Kataria for his statements on Maharana Pratap and Lord Ram, which caused losses to the party during the by-elections. During the campaign for the by-election in Rajsamand in April. Kataria courted controversy by making derogatory remarks about Maharana Pratap, which was widely criticized.

Around the same time he also said that without the BJP ‘Shri Ram’ would have been in the ocean.
