Rajasthan elections: Congress candidates win district major seats in Dholpur, Alwar

In Rajasthan’s Dholpur and Alwar Zilla Parishad elections on Saturday, Congress candidates were elected district chiefs. The ruling party on Friday secured a majority in both the district councils, where elections were held in three phases, and constituted the boards on Saturday.

Polling was held on Saturday for the key posts of Zilla Parishad and Pradhan of 22 Panchayat Samitis in Alwar and Dholpur. Congress candidate Bhagwan Devi was elected district chief from Dholpur and Balbir Singh from Alwar.

Of the total 49 seats in Alwar Zilla Parishad, Congress won 25 seats, BJP 20 seats, while four seats were won by independent candidates on Friday. In Dholpur, the Congress won 17 of the total 23 posts of Zilla Parishad members and the BJP won six seats. PCC chief Govind Singh congratulated the winners.
