Rajasthan: Five arrested for beating Dalit youth in Jalore Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: Five people have been detained for brutally thrashing a Dalit youth in Rajasthan’s Jalore town. The video of the incident went viral on social media following which the police registered a case of assault under appropriate sections of the IPC and sections of the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as jitendra bamnia (26), a government job aspirant, had gone to offer prayers at a local temple on October 1.
“In the afternoon when he was standing outside the temple after offering prayers. At least five youths came and started abusing them. He asked them not to misbehave. There was a dispute regarding this matter after which he was beaten up. As the video of the incident went viral, we identified the victim and lodged an FIR on Sunday. Anukreethy UjjaniyaAdditional SP Jalore, who is probing the matter, is registered at Kotwali police station in Jalore.
“We have detained five persons in the case and will arrest the accused by evening after completing the formalities,” he said.
