Rajasthan teacher changes gender for marriage: “Everything is fair in love”

Both the parents have accepted the marriage.

Bharatpur, Rajasthan:

A school teacher in Rajasthan changed her gender and married one of her students on Sunday.

Meera, a physical education teacher in Bharatpur, fell in love with Kalpana Faujdar and got her a sex change operation to marry her.

Meera, who is now Aarav Kuntal, told reporters, “Everything is fair in love and that’s why I have changed my gender.”

Meera met Kalpana during her physical education classes at school. Kalpana has played Kabaddi at the state level and is reportedly set to travel to Dubai for an international Kabaddi tournament in January.

Aarav said that he fell in love with Kalpana during a conversation in the school playground but he always wanted to be a boy. “I was born as a girl, but I always thought I was a boy. I always wanted to have surgery to change my gender. I had my first surgery in December 2019,” he said.

The bride Kalpana said that she was in love with Aarav for a long time and would have married him even if he had not done the surgery.

Kalpana said, “I loved her from the very beginning. Had she not done this surgery, I would have married her. I went for the surgery with her.”

Their marriage, though unconventional and still rare in India, is accepted by their parents.
