Surat: Ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a rally was organized in the city on Thursday to create awareness against drug abuse.

Before the rally, a meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Center was organized which was presided over by the Municipal Commissioner of Police. Several officials from various government departments like NCB, Health, Social Justice, Courts, Coast Guard, Food and Drug, Forest, Education and Collector’s Office participated in it.
“Police have destroyed the normal supply chain of drugs in the city and drug smugglers are looking for other avenues. We are working to involve more and more citizens in the drive to strengthen it further,” Tomar said. Over the past two years, city police traced and arrested suppliers of drugs from Mumbai, Odisha, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. The police have targeted the supply chain of synthetic drugs, opium, ganja and charas.
