Ram Mandir in Ayodhya: Ram Lalla Idol with 10 Avatars | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The 51-inch idol of Lord Ram, which was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple on Monday in a landmark event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has all the 10 ‘Avatars’ crafted on it. The idol is made from ‘shyamal’ (dark) stone and crafted by artist Arun Yogiraj of Mysuru.
The Ram Lalla idol portrays the deity as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus also crafted from the same stone.The idol weighs 200 kg, and boasts a height of 4.24 feet and a width of 3 feet. Eyewitnesses, however, noted that due to the lotus and the halo, it has a total height of seven feet when measured from the ground.

The 10 Avatars or incarnations of Lord Vishnu have been crafted on the side pillars of the Ram Lalla idol

The idol was placed in the sanctum sanctorum of Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi temple on January 18, setting the stage for the consecration ceremony on Monday. Covered with a veil, the first photo of the idol was revealed during the placement ceremony in the sanctum sanctorum, accompanied by the chanting of prayers.
